On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, Lazzerini presents a project that brings together innovation, sustainability, and design applied to the world of public transportation. At the center is Re-Compact, a seat made entirely from recycled plastic, showcased within the exhibition “The New State of Materials,” curated by Materially. Developed in collaboration with NEXTCHEM and MyReplast Industrie, the project embodies a circular approach to plastic: post-consumer waste is chemically recycled, transformed into high-quality technical granules, and used to create a durable product that is recycled and recyclable.
The installation presents a visual narrative of this transformation process. A series of plexiglass cubes containing recycled granules is displayed alongside the finished seat, illustrating the journey from discarded material to high-value product. Through Re-Compact, Lazzerini offers a tangible example of how circular economy principles can be effectively translated into industrial design, reinforcing the role of materials innovation in shaping more sustainable public infrastructures.
